Mark D. Coe President, of Coe Capital Management, LLC
Mark founded the firm in 1999. Mark began his investment career in 1987 at the Chicago investment advisory firm, Gofen and Glossberg, Inc., and in 1994 began his own firm Kent Associates, at Paine Webber. Mark received his Master of Management in Finance and Economics at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University in 1987. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois in 1984 where he was awarded the Bronze Tablet and University Honors, the highest recognition for academic excellence awarded by the University. Mark holds Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Investment Counselor designations, and is Series 7, Series 24, Series 63 and Series 65 licensed with B. Riley & Co. LLC. Member FINRA/SIPC. He lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago with his wife and children, and is very active in Keshet and other charitable organizations.
Larry Stein Director of Portfolio Management
Team member since May 2008, he is responsible for the Managed Accounts practice. Larry focuses on portfolio and risk management strategy, client relationships and communications. The author of the book, Value Investing, Larry recently began writing a new book on retirement investing. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois in 1978 and a Master’s of Science degree in Taxation from DePaul University in 1980. Previously, Larry was responsible for managed accounts at a financial services boutique for five years, and for 15 years he consulted with CEOs and CFOs of NYSE and NASDAQ companies on communications strategies with investors and security analysts. He lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago with his wife and children, and is currently the President of The Board of Jewish Education of Metropolitan Chicago.
Karen J. Scott Senior Portfolio Manager
Karen joined the Coe Capital team in February 2000. Karen is responsible for client relationships and the management of client investment portfolios. Karen received her Bachelor of Arts in Design from Indiana University in 1979, and obtained a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Investments and Portfolio Management from DePaul University in 1987. The University acknowledged Karen’s academic excellence by inducting her into Delta Mu Delta, the National Honor Society for Business Administration. Prior to joining Coe Capital, Karen managed Trust and Advisory accounts within Private Banking and Trust at the First National Bank of Chicago. Karen holds the Registered Financial Consultant (RFC) designation and is Series 6, Series 7, Series 63, Series 65, Series 9 and Series 10 licensed with B. Riley & Co. LLC. Member FINRA/SIPC. Karen lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago with her husband and children.
Jonathan Yaffe Chief Operating Officer
Jonathan joined the Coe Capital team in 2009 and runs the company’s operations. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Jonathan majored in Accounting. He worked for Deloitte & Touche, LLP in the audit practice, specializing in the Investment Management industry. As a Manager, Jonathan was in charge of overseeing multiple engagements, focusing on staffing, coordination, and profitability. Jonathan holds a Certified Public Accountant designation and is on the board of the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center. Jonathan lives in the north side of Chicago.
Nathan Jacobs Senior Securities Analyst
A team member since September 2001, Nathan is responsible for the firm’s proprietary research, employing a broad array of tools to identify and analyze investment opportunities. Nathan is a graduate of Illinois State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2001, and obtained a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance in 2007. He has passed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst program, and is Series 7 and Series 66 licensed with B. Riley & Co. LLC. Member FINRA/SIPC. Nathan lives in the western suburbs of Chicago with his wife.
Andy Corral Securities Analyst
Andy joined the Coe Capital team in 2007 and is an integral part of the proprietary research team. He graduated from Illinois State University in 2007 with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a minor in Economics. Andy has passed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst program. He lives in the north side of Chicago.
Andrew Lindblom Securities Analyst
Andrew became a team member of Coe Capital in January 2009, joining the proprietary research group. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008 with Bachelor Degrees in Accountancy and Finance. Prior to working at Coe Capital, Andrew had internships with a trading firm at the Chicago Board of Trade as well as Wolfpoint Capital, a distressed debt hedge fund in Chicago. Andrew lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago.
Alexander Barrios Trader & Compliance
Alex joined the Coe Capital team in October 2007. He is responsible for trading oversight and execution as well as assisting in compliance. Alex began his investment career in 1997 at a boutique brokerage firm in New York, which was later acquired by Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. Inc. At Ladenburg, Alex later served as the Branch Office Manager of its New York headquarters office from 2005 thru 2007. He is Series 7, Series 24, Series 9, Series 10, Series 63, Series 65 & Series 55 licensed with B. Riley & Co. LLC. Member FINRA/SIPC. Alex resides in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with his wife and three children, and is very active at his local church and community.
Lisa Somlo Business Development
Lisa became a team member in June 2009. She is responsible for client relationships and business development. Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Indiana University in 1986, and her Juris Doctor in Law from DePaul University in 1990. She worked for eight years as an Account Executive with institutional clients in fixed income, initially with Discount Corp. of New York and then with JP Morgan. Lisa lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago with her husband and three children.

Team member since May 2003, is responsible for the coordination of all client administrative activities for the firm. Joyce brings over 20 years of related industry experience to our team in the form of US Treasury and corporate fixed income trading and administration, as well as employee training and supervision. Lynette Hopkins Office Manager/Customer Service Coordinator
Lynette joined the Coe Capital team in October 2008 and is responsible for the firm’s human resources, office management and customer service. Lynette graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She brings 15 years of business operations experience and knowledge of various computer systems. Lynette lives in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
